Trading software firm Patsystems has introduced a new
trading methodology which it claims falls outside the scope of
patents held by litigious rival Trading Technologies.
The new functionality - dubbed Reflector - represents depth
of market in an active ladder display. According to Patsystems,
this distinguishes the product from TT's static ladder-based MD
Trader. Active ladder displays were the norm prior to the
introduction of MD Trader in 2000, with Patsystems among the
firms to offer it.
The move follows three lawsuits launched by TT against
trading firms it alleges are supplying technology that breaches
its MD Trader patents. Patsystems has not been sued directly,
but has been named in at least one of the other suits.
