US President George Bush has announced his intention to
nominate Frederick Hatfield, a Democrat, to be the third
commissioner of Commodity Trading Futures Commission (CFTC).
CFTC has been operating with only two of its five commissioner
seats filled since the departure of chairman Jim Newsome
earlier this year, leading to concern about its ability to
manage next year's reauthorisation process (see FO
Week Vol 9 No 26).
