Issues highlighted by the recent dispute over the so-called
'flipper' (see FO Week Vol 9 No 8) have given
Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) cause for concern
regarding Eurex US's much needed clearing link. CFTC
commissioner Sharon Brown-Hruska said that the amount of
information supplied by Eurex in relation to large volume
trader activities was an issue in authorising the link.
While large volume reporting had always been on CFTC's
checklist for the clearing link, Brown-Hruska said that recent
accusations of market manipulation regarding Eurex trading in
