Welcome to In-ger-lund
Let the bells peal out, for once again London
derivatives week is upon us. I'm naturally expecting to be on
the beat all week, meeting, greeting and pressing the flesh
(while no-one's looking anyway). If you're in town I have no
doubt you'll run into me at some stage, at least you will if
you know my usual haunts. That said, you may want to avoid some
of them: I recall running into one red faced delegate at one of
the all-night sauna and relaxation parlours I pop into from
time to time (just to have my dicky knee looked at you
understand). However, if by some chance you miss me, or I owe
you money and successfully avoid you, there are of course
plenty of other things going on. For instance, I know that some
attendees from across the pond are keen to catch some of the
ongoing Euro 2004 football tournament. Just a quick word to one
of my Chicago-based contacts, who was planning to pop over to
Portugal for a night: Lisbon is 985 miles from London. No doubt
that is a distance many Americans would gladly drive foa taco,
but in Europe that is officially too far for a night out. Watch
it in the pub with the rest of us.
