Every day is like Saturday
One would have thought that 366 days this year would
be enough for anyone; personally I had already had enough of
2004 as I confronted the enormity of my hangover on 1 January.
But apparently even this enhanced number is not enough for
those workaholics at Liffe, who have generously given us a
bonus day at the end of April on their desktop calendar.
Perhaps this is just a clever means towards claiming greater
Eurodollar volumes than CME for the first time (the Chicago
exchange is not believed to be open for business on 31 April).
However, this may not be the case, as Liffe have unilaterally
decreed that 31 April will be a Saturday. Since my 100%
accurate FOW calendar tells me that 1 May is also a Saturday, I
can only assume that Liffe are introducing some kind of
terrifying Groundhog Day experiment. Still, anything that adds
to my long weekend can only be a good thing, although as I have
a number of 'short term credit deals' expiring at month end I
may have to arrange to be incommunicado.
