Eurex said last week it is continuing its efforts to create
a clearing link between Frankfurt and Chicago, but no
applications have been filed with US regulators.
James Newsome, chairman of Commodity Futures Trading
Commission (CFTC), told FO Week at the Futures
Industry Association conference in Boca Raton, that Eurex US
and The Clearing Corporation (TCC) officials met with CFTC last
Monday to discuss the clearing link, but that the regulator not
yet received any formal application.
"We're in the early stages of that discussion and our
regulatory response is going to be based upon their ultimate
business plan," Newsome said.
