Euronext is entering exclusive discussions to set up an
exchange in Dubai, having beaten rivals in a bidding
Euronext, along with its technology partner Atos Euronext,
LCH Clearnet and Euroclear, will work on establishing Dubai
International Futures Exchange (DIFX).
Discussions between Dubai International Financial Centre
(DIFC) and several exchanges began last year (see FO
Week Vol 8 No 40). DIFX chairman Lynton Jones said he had
reviewed "several extremely impressive bids" from exchanges and
clearing providers. He told FO Week the deciding
factor had been the ability to provide a package of widespread
member connectivity and central counterparty services.
