Eurex US got off to a modest but solid start when it
launched its exchange last Sunday, while still awaiting
regulatory approval in Europe.
The exchange posted volumes of 39,441 contracts traded on
Monday, 40,412 on Tuesday and 26,679 Wednesday. Those figures
compare with Chicago Board of Trade (CBoT)'s daily volume of
well over a million Treasury futures and options. At time of
press, no options had been traded on Eurex US.
German regulator BaFin and the UK's Financial Services
Authority have not yet given authorisation to Eurex US, meaning
firms in those countries cannot access the exchange
