Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) announced it will launch
Japanese-yen denominated Nikkei 225 stock index futures
contracts on 23 February. Mutual offsetting with Singapore
Exchange (SGX) could attract volume away from Osaka Securities
CME said it is the first time yen-denominated Nikkei
contracts will be offered for trading outside the Asian
business day. The contract will be listed for trading on CME's
Globex electronic trading platform, as well as being included
in CME's long-standing mutual offset agreement with SGX,
allowing positions established at one exchange to be
transferred and closed out or offset at the other.
