Politicians in Washington who could decide the fate of
Eurex's bid to open a US futures exchange will scrutinise the
matter this week.
The arguments for and against the application will be aired
at a specially convened hearing of the House Committee on
Agriculture on Thursday. The discussion had previously been
scheduled to take place before the subcommittee on general farm
commodities and risk management two weeks previously. That
meeting was cancelled follwing the removal of Eurex's
application from CFTC's fast track process. Since then,
mounting congressional interest in the row over Eurex US has
moved it up the political agenda.
