Political pressure in Washington appears to have led to the
Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)'s decision last
week that take Eurex's application off the 60-day fast-track
application process and the cancellation of key Congressional
hearing on the matter.
Strong lobbying efforts in Washington may have paid off for
the Chicago exchanges in their attempts to slow Eurex's
application for approval of its US exchange.
