Australia's worst drought on record and a marketing
oversight concerning Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE)'s recently
launched 'sponsored' cattle futures contract has caused some
angst in the industry.
Marketing documents produced by the exchange and its joint
venture partner Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) had
participants incorrectly believing that feedlot cattle prices
were included in the cash cattle price indicator that
determines settlement price.
