Clearing 21 may be adopted in Euronext consolidation
Euronext Liffe plans to move clearing for all its
derivatives products onto the Clearing 21 platform, a Liffe
official said last week.
Fraser Cowie, Liffe's recently appointed executive director
of marketing let the information slip at a seminar for hedge
fund managers, though he attempted to retract the statement
later when questioned.
The official line at Liffe remains that all products
currently cleared by ClearNet are being migrated onto Clearing
21, while the London market will continue to be cleared by
London Clearing House (LCH). The long-term plan is for a
consolidated clearing offering for all Euronext markets,
possibly via the much-anticipated merger between LCH and
