An investigation is underway into options trading activity
at Japan's Osaka Stock Exchange.
According to press reports, former OSE vice president Takuo
Noguchi is suspected of organising illegal equity option trades
in the late 1990s. The so-called wash trades, designed to
artificially inflate volumes, allegedly began in July 1997 and
continued until April 2000, when volume in the products fell
