Goldman Sachs' co-head of futures, Mike McErlean, is to take
a senior role with Eurex, helping to spearhead the
establishment of its US exchange.
The exact position McErlean will take up is not yet clear,
as Eurex has yet to decide on whether it will establish the US
exchange from scratch or via an acquisition. However, it is
understood that the position will be at board level. How
quickly he can take up the post will depend on Goldman's
gardening leave requirements. The firm could prevent him
working for Eurex until the end of June, but as he is not going
to a competitor, that period may be reduced.
