An industry poll of traders, FCMs and technology firms
conducted by FO Week has found almost unanimous
support of Chicago Board of Trade's decision to adopt Liffe
Connect as its new trading technology from next year. Those
polled suggests the Liffe system offers the best technology and
functionality available, even though some respondents concede
that reliability leave something to be desired.
The poll found almost similar degrees of agreement that
Eurex will find it difficult to succeed in its US venture.
"Very challenging" and "they will have a hard time" were
typical responses to the question over Eurex's prospects in the
Opinion was more divided, however, over what the twin
developments mean for the future of floor trading in the US.
Half those surveyed said the moves would definitely speed up
the demise of open outcry, a prospect most welcomed. The other
half thought that the process, though inevitable in the long
run, would be largely unaffected.
