As CBoT's decision on its new technology went down to
the wire last week, sources close to the contenders - Eurex and
Euronext - were getting into a flap about what they considered
to be a little gamesmanship being conducted in the press. Each
side seemed convinced the other was planting stories with
journalists - naturally, both also denied it.
Just don't shred the stock options
London may not have known how to see in the new year
(those readers unfortunate enough to have been here over the
festive period will certainly have been disappointed by the
lack of fireworks and fanfare). But Chicago exchanges clearly
know how to have a good time. Both Chicago Board of Trade and
Chicago Mercantile Exchange celebrated the last day of trading
for 2002 with a show of colourful confetti at the closing bell.
As some wise wag in FO Week towers commented,
